July 2025
July. (Yes this post is late).
>> Attended PAIR. I love this camp and the people in it and recommend it. More posts soon to follow about some things I learned at PAIR. 14/10.
>> Visited UCSB (where I'll be going to college) and did orientation. 9.4/10 since I got all the classes I wanted (although signing up was definitely stressful).
>> Started working on my own website. It's bare bones HTML/CSS/JS but I still find it good and fun so I'll give it a 9.2/10.
>> Loaded up on library books. This is an obvious 9/10 for obvious reasons (I like books) but unfortunately now I'll have to work through all these books. And work through everything I learned and experienced at PAIR. And do life at the same time. I'll definitely drop some books, and that'll just be how it goes. (Note to self: Don't be afraid to return some books and then mark them to read them later.)
>> Made 3 decks of cards (as referenced in June). Turned out well, and the process was mostly fun and enjoyable. 8.5/10.
>> Passed my driving test (and as a corollary, obtained my driver's license). Test itself was good and really if you drive competently I think you shouldn't have too much fear. Some practice beforehand is definitely beneficial. 7.25/10.
>> Hosted another jam session with a friend. 7/10 as we didn't really jam.
>> Got employed by another friend at a startup! I lowkey don't vibe with startups anymore but the fact that I got to do cool stuff is always an enjoyable experience. 2h long one-way commutes is definitely not though. 7/10.
>> Climbed to an almost record high of 2552 in bullet chess. Definitely do not recommend the experience -- it was grind and sad. 2.552/10.
In August, I plan to:
- bring music back. I stopped playing music because there was no band/orchestra that I was in and it didn't seem fun anymore. As PAIR showed, I am still super interested in music, so I'll be searching for somewhere to play.
- refactor this blog. This blog lowkey sucks so I hope to separate it into like actual posts and then the little blurb posts or status updates that I post.
- have fun and make stuff and bike and enjoy life. Self-explanatory.
