Chicago, by Andrew M

Today I saw a school play directed by one very cool and inspirational person, Andrew, with the play being Chicago. Go read the synopsis or whatever on your own Wikipedia subscription but damn that rendition and show was great.

Especially great was my familiarity with the people. I knew some of them. I see them in class. They are human, and somehow someway, all of them performing was one of the most human and most amazing things I've ever seen.

Sure it's all choreographed, there was no pit orchestra, and this wasn't Broadway, but it was a play; it told a great story, it was thrilling and there was good acting (and some magic), and perhaps most of all, it was both exhilarating and amazing seeing everyone onstage and also amazing knowing this was directed by my friend and a bunch of his friends. And his show was amazing.

I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow. We'll see. But I definitely know I want to be like Andrew. To be good at what I do -- whether that be directing a play, or being able to play a jazz solo well, or being able to hold a note and do a magic trick and act as a crooked lawyer and crack jokes and dance around; all of those things are inspirational, and-
where I am currently in the world and where I feel, that cold May 16th when the wind fluttered cool through my shirt and a bird flew by as I saw Andrew celebrating his play conclusion and experiencing ranges of emotion as he hugged, laughed, grasped, talked, and watched-, that moment truly simply is joy.
