August 2025
For me, this August embodies the transition from summer to fall. Literally, the temperatures started to drop in August and the sun is starting to set; days are colder than they were before, and being in shorts is becoming harder :(.
Metaphorically, I've transitioned from dilly-dallying to being on the grind; at the start of August, I was at PAIR and then living life at home -- biking around, reading, trying to pick up a new skill (poker)1, cooking, and living. Now, at the beginning of September, I'm working, I'm trying to be "on the grind", and I'm basically getting ready for the next phase of my life: college.
So here's some things I've been doing and have done this August.
- PAIR.
- Working at my friend's robotics startup thing. Wouldn't exactly recommend the experience but I am learning things and that is making me happy.
- Went to the local "city fair" and barely saw anyone I knew.
- Started building my website from scratch (again). Crucially, I'm trying to make my own markdown to html generator in the hopes that this will make website creation easier. Unfortunately I'm just not putting the hours in to make this project work.
- Went outside A WHOLE LOT more. Feeling better as a result :).
- Bought some new notebooks -- this will mark a new phase in my life.
- Started writing blog posts that have been actually edited. Quality improvement as a result (see recent posts).
- just living life and experimenting with myself.
See ya'll again once 75%+ of the year is over.
Being good at poker is cool but that also is hard and ultimately like any new skill, poker is hard to acquire.↩
