A human in a bridle

This weekend, I went backpacking with my boy scout troop. It was an easy trip, only two miles there and back. But as anyone who's backpacked knows, the weight on your hips and shoulders gets tiring. And it almost feels like you're in a bridle.

Let me explain. Backpacking is essentially camping but putting everything you need into a bag, then carrying that up to your desired camping location. It's fun and rewarding, but it's hard. Imagine hiking with a 30 pound bag for five miles. Would you find that a pleasurable accomplishment you view with fondness for years to come? Probably not.

Especially when every step taken reminds you of the weight you have on your back. It almost feels like you're a horse in a bridle. Every step taken only furthers your pack, and you feel sorta trapped with your pack. It's like your energy is being harnessed by the pack.

Anyways, I'm still trying to test the md features of this site. It's pretty cool :)
